Hello (please introduce yourself here)

Posted: Jun. 18 (Edited Jun. 18)

This is a single thread inside which I hope class members will introduce themselves to me and their classmates. It's nice to include your reason for taking the class, a little bit about yourself, and perhaps some information about your professional life and background.

Note: Please DO NOT POST QUESTIONS as part of your self-introduction. Questions need answers, and sometimes multiple exchanges of postings, to be addressed. That's exactly what these forums are for, but not in this particular message thread. If you want to ask a question, post it into a different relevant thread if you can find one, or create a new message thread if you cannot.

Here's a nice example of a good Hello/Hi! message:

Hi! My name is Ben and I work as a Help Desk professional in Lenaxa, KS, answering questions about Windows desktop issues for City employees. I'm taking this class because I want to improve my understanding of what non-technical or inexperienced users need to know about the Vista Home Premium that comes installed on notebooks we make available to them through an employee purchase program. I'd like to be able to help them make sure they're protected, and point them at tools to help them configure, secure, and manage their systems without too much muss or fuss. I hope to get all this, and more, out of your class.

Hi, I'm Sue from the Columbus, OH metro area and am currently between jobs. I bought a refurbished laptop for a great price with Vista Home Premium installed. I want to learn as much as I can about Vista while I have the time to do it -- both for personal use and for professional development.

I'm from Connecticut and just purchased a new Dell pc with Vista on. I am taking this class to learn more about Vista before I send the pc back to Dell. So far I really don't like it at all. However, when I don't understand something I need to work on it and learn - so here I am. Have to stay current - but looking for next iteration of an operating system.

Hello ! My name is Jean(Nenaw), a 79 year old great grand mother, wanting to learn more about my HP Vista. Within a week in Feb. I got the new PC, different internet service and suffered a stroke that hinders my short term memory. I want to re- learn how to burn CD s of my digital pictures that I already have in my PC in addition to lots of basics. Mostly for my entertainment and I love to learn new and easier ways to accomplish tasks.

Hi Brian here from Newmarket, Canada

I currently use Windows XP at work and at home, but have been wondering about Windows Vista. Currently I have a desktop at home, but if I decide to replace it I will get a laptop. It would take up far less room on my desk and is portable. Obviously most new machines would come with Windows Vista, I just want to learn more about the new system before I decide to change machines. Good luck to all taking the course.
