Welcome!
Posted: Jun. 18
Hello everyone and welcome to Building your first web site. I'm Virginia O'Connor and I'll be your instructor and guide for this class.
I invite you to tell us a little bit about yourself, just like the first day of school. Start a new message or just respond to this one to tell us why you are taking this class and what you hope to get out of it.
Personally, I hail from the Rocky Mountains and I'm a Technical Writer. I've created numerous web pages and web sites over the years. I work with HTML for my job and for fun.
This is a fun class and you will definitely learn a lot, so plan on keeping very busy. Please don't ask questions on this message thread, however. If you have questions, please start a new message thread so your questions don't get buried in the introductions.
I'll see you again soon in the message boards!
Virginia

Raveesh,
When you get some skills in HTML, take a look at oDesk.com as many people are making quite a bit of money and getting a lot of practice designing websites through that site as freelance designers.
Good luck!

Hi Virginia,
My name is Lorrie Crow. I am also a tech writer and own my own tech writing business. I do not have a web site as such and would like to learn how to put one together. My degree is in journalism, so I know basic layout and design. If I can master web site creation, I would like to offer it as a service from my company. Thanks!

My Name is Maria. I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease 5 months ago and found i had to stumble my way around to find strategies to change my diet and minimise contamination risks. I want to make it easier for coeliacs to find information that is useful for a Beginner, so i plan to build a website with FAQs, strategies, links to support networks and some basic simple guidance for that first year when everything looks pear shaped! i found all my information by 'bumping' into it on random searches of the internet. I didn't know what to ask the health professionals and dietician because this 'gluten free' thing was new to me, and nothing was forthcoming from them. It was very destabilising. it would be great to google 'newly diagnosed coeliac' and get a website that gives an insight of how to manage the initial changes required. I am also a Registered Nurse. i look forward to these lesson and thankyou for the free guidance you give,
regard
Maria

My name is Carlos. I'm from Puerto Rico now living in Arkansas. I like to help people. I want to create a site that will be useful. Like giving some Spanish and English lessons for free. The Bible says. Tips on exercises. These will be the topic I'm planning to work on. I have been having this feeling for a while and I think that this lesson will help me to do it.
