Suctionware is pretty common these days. It's one of the best reasons to be careful what you install. There are some programs that glom onto your PC like ocean pirates and just won't let go.
In general, there are three things you can do. None are really satisfactory:
1 (Hard) Uninstall with the help of an uninstall utility program. I'd like to recommend one, but I have a policy that I don't recommend third party software. (But other students are free to post their recommendations as long as it's a genuine student post and not just commercial spam.) Type "uninstall software" into your favorite search engine and you'll get thousands of hits.
2 (Harder) Dig it out yourself using system utilities like Regedit and MSConfig. It takes dedication and understanding, but it can be done.
3 (Hardest) Reinstall your system. Make sure you have good backups of anything you want to save and be aware that you will have to have original install disks for any other software. But this will do the job.
(What you should have done)
The big shops make a shadow copy of the system before installing anything. If they want to back it out, they just have to revert back to the shadow copy.
