Thanks Tony. And what Tony didn't tell you, Bob, is that this is what...the third? or maybe the fourth?...time he's taken this class. He really knows how to make me work, but he's also a big, big help.

Thanks again, Tony!

> No Ed. It's the other way around. You help me. I still have lots to learn about Vista and now they changed it again ( Windows 7 ) I'll stay with Vista.

Windows 7 is what Vista should have been...

Dear Tony:

You're doing yourself no favors by sticking with Vista when you could be switching to 7. I've been running 7 in some form or fashion since March, and have come to appreciate it much, much more than Vista. I've switched all of my production machines to 7 now, except for a couple of machines with Vista still running (one is a dual-boot setup, the other runs Vista in a VM on Windows 7).

On the same hardware, Windows 7 is more compact, uses less resources, and runs more stably and reliably than Vista. I've learned this from direct, personal experience running both OSes side-by-side on as many as a dozen different PCs.

You might want to reconsider, though you can take your time to ponder things as long as you like! ;-)

I just bought my laptop in August. I don't think I'll be changing for awhile yet. Maybe I should have waited

About an August Laptop Purchase

Posted: about 19 days ago

Dear Phyll:

If you bought your notebook from a major mfgr, you probably qualify for a free Windows 7 upgrade. Starting July 1, most mfgrs started offering this to their customers. Check with your reseller (where you bought the PC) or the maker (the vendor Web site should tell you if you qualify or not).

Even if you don't upgrade right away, the offer expires in early January, so if you can take advantage of it before then, you most definitely should do so.

HTH,
