How much do the classes cost?

HP Learning center classes are free of charge and accessible online from any computer with an internet connection.

How do classes work?

HP Learning center classes are offered online and are accessible from any computer with an internet connection. Classes include two to 10 lessons and may also include quizzes and assignments. These classes have a start and end date, and all lessons post between those two dates. You can review all posted lessons at your own pace and at any time of day. During an active class session, you may interact with your fellow students and your instructor via the class message board.

Where can I find a complete listing of the available classes?

The HP Learning center home page lists many of the classes with active sessions in which you can enroll. You can click the All classes link in the left navigation to see a listing of all classes. To learn more about a class:

  • Click Learning center in the left-hand navigation to go to the main class listing page.
  • Click on the class title you are interested in to get an overview of the class that includes a class description, the instructor's objectives for the class, and the start and end dates for all available class sessions.

How can I be notified of the new classes available for enrollment each month?

You can subscribe to the HP Learning Center News monthly email newsletter to learn about new classes available for enrollment each month. New users will automatically receive HP Learning Center News when they register. You can unsubscribe at any time. Existing users can check to see if they are subscribed by signing in and clicking View/edit profile from the left navigation bar. "HP Learning Center News" will be listed under "Subscriptions" in your Profile summary. If it is not, you can subscribe easily by clicking View/edit profile > View all recommended subscriptions and then clicking HP Learning Center News.

Where do the classes take place?

Classes take place online and are accessible from any computer with internet access. Once a class has started, you are free to complete any posted lessons when it is convenient for you. Just be sure to complete your lessons before the posted end date.

For classes currently not in session, how can I get notified the next time the class is up for enrollment?

Classes currently not in session are listed on this page http://h30187.www3.hp.com/not_enrollable.jsp. Click on any class that interests you to sign up to be notified the next time the class is in session. Your notification will be sent by email.

What is the advantage of taking an online class instead of a regular class or even buying a book to learn more?

Like a traditional class, an online class offers a collection of lessons, assignments, and quizzes to help you learn, as well as an instructor to guide your learning, but it is up to you to determine the time and place you attend class. You can take an online class when it is convenient for you, rather than organizing your schedule around class time. You also get personalized feedback from the instructor and the opportunity to chat with other students to gain more insight and information about the subjects that interest you.

What are How-to in 2s?

Our How-to in 2 content gives you a quick, 2-minute interactive visual lesson. These flash-based tutorials will show you exactly how to perform a task on your own computer. You can follow along with the instructor by listening to the audio and watching the demonstration.

What is RSS and how can I use it?

The Learning Center team has initiated RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds as an easy way for our users to get new class information and lessons reminders automatically sent to them. For more information about RSS and to subscribe to the feed, simply click on the RSS link at the bottom of a page, and follow the instructions to start getting updates sent to you.

What are the ratings (stars) and how do they work?

The ratings (or stars) you see provide a way for us to gauge the success of a class or instructor as assessed by those who have taken that class.

We've added ratings to the Learning Center for 2 reasons:

  • To provide those who have taken a class with a way of giving us quick feedback about their experience
  • To provide potential enrollees with feedback about the quality of a class and/or instructor as assessed by other students

To rate a class, you need to be logged in, then just click on the star you think best describes your experience (1 is poor, 5 is excellent) in that class and your rating will be averaged with others received.
